    Re: Region D playoff schedule

As 722 describes, it is not actually classified as a "bye" week. It is week 12 on the master schedule. Very few teams in this end of the state use it as a play date, making it a "bye" week for play-off bound teams.

Actualy it is a week that is left open for regions to take advantage of the VHSLs rule starting 2 years ago that Regions could add an extra playoff week (8 teams or 6 team insted of 4)
I think the Region C will be moveing to a 6 team format next season

    Re: Region D playoff schedule

If the state championship is on Dec. 6, the semifinals are on Nov. 29, then the regional championship should be on Nov. 22 and the first round on Nov. 15. Check out the link below.

Counts that was an option if everyone agreed to it which they did not. That is why some teams still schedule games for that last week of the regular season.

    Re: Region D playoff schedule

That's odd that the Region D has the first round on Nov 15 and Winter Sports can start practice on Nov. 10. All the team's that have playoff football teams and kids that play winter sports will be behind.

I know most won't mind, as they shouldn't. But it still puts the winter guys behind, especially those teams that go far. I know the first bball play date is something like Nov 28. Those playing in state won't even be finished with football yet.

    Re: Region D playoff schedule

7teen thats a common issue, and generally why GC doesnt schedule a bball game till after the first week of December.

Region C may, but I was thinking most ended up declining it. No one could do it before next year because of the contracts already written.

    Re: Region D playoff schedule

Nov. 7 is the last week of the reg. season. Teams that don't play that week are "open".

No games were ccd. this year, so no make-up games will happen.

Regions that have already expanded their field beyond 4 teams will start the playoffs that weekend (like Roanoke/Lynchburg's Reg. III).

The VHSL does not have a "bye week" between the end of the reg. season & the start of the playoffs ... nor does any other nearby state.

"That's odd that the Region D has the first round on Nov 15 and Winter Sports can start practice on Nov. 10. All the team's that have playoff football teams and kids that play winter sports will be behind."

Not a Region D thing .... that's for the whole state.

If JIB is 2nd or 1st Seed they willbe playing on the 14th to avoid the conflict with the UVA-W game.

Seems like you guys are just splitting hairs here. "open" week, "bye" week ......no difference. helper, you need to realize that there are people on here that know just as much as you do. no need to talk down to everyone.
